Search “Overheight Warning System”, or “Overheight Detection System”.Many options available using infrared or laser detectors which activate flashing lights, dashboard warnings, text alerts - and cameras to photograph perpetrators.I wonder if such a system could be discreetly installed on either end of the bridge.Joseph BrienWest Cornwall, CTI just confirmed that tractor trailers deliver to Trinity, etc weekly and then turn around. So that would kill the idea of a placing a beam further back.Perhaps the idea of a fine and camera, indicated by signage, is the strongest so far. It would make divers think twice, hopefully keeping them from taking the risk. And being fined would seemingly reduce repeat offenders. It would also help pay for repairs if needed. On Dec 22, 2023, at 1:38 PM, neil frauenglass <neilfrauenglass@yahoo.com> wrote:The comments here have been about how to avoid putting a modern beam in front of an historic bridge. Assuming the big trucks aren't coming from Lower River Road or River Road (which seems unlikely) a beam can be placed quite far up Sharon Goshen Turnpike and away from the center of West Cornwall. It could be anywhere after 3 Guys and Dibble Hill in fact. This is far from the bridge and town center, yet still before any major road that could bring a truck onto Sharon Goshen turnpike before the bridge.
